Helen Hoang has created something sweet and unique with this story.
I inhaled this book as soon as I received it and even would sneak reads at work. Yep, fully admitting I was reading while at work. hahaha #noshame
This is a romance novel but it’s not like anything I’ve read before. There isn’t “instalove” and there is so much insight and growth. In ‘The Kiss Quotient’ we follow the story of Stella Lane. Stella has Asperger’s and she’s not interested in kissing, touching, or really anything related to relationships. So when her mother insinuates a need for grandchildren, she does the logical thing. She decides to get a professional to help her practice. In walks Michael Phan’s character and he is stunning.
I was blown away by how gripping this story was, so I decided to do a little research. Helen Hoang herself has been diagnosed with Asperger’s, so when she’s writing this story, she’s writing fromm a place of experience. Reading the book, you can sense Stella’s frustration and her drive to try her best. I wonder if Helen has had the same struggles. The book is beautifully written.
Alright, so let’s discuss the The Kiss Quotient, shall we? haha
This IS a romance novel, as such there are sexy scenes in it. So just fair warning, the sexy scenes start early for anyone cautious. Not only that, this is a a fun Pretty Woman re-telling, with the roles reversed. (If you missed that from the description)
One of the main things that I found really wonderful about this book is all the added information. You learn from Michael’s character about Vietnamese culture and even some language. The reader learns a lot about Stella and her struggle with Asperger disorder. I mainly learned, that if two people try, there really isn’t anything that can’t be overcome.
CONSENT! Quotient Kiss is PHENOMENAL with consent for situations. I’m not just talking sexually everyone. This novel shows how you should ask before even touching someone, or getting in their personal space. Helen Hoang has detailed everything beautifully and I had no complaints.
This book is so unique not just for the Autism aspect for also for the main hero being Asian. I read quite a bit of romance. (where’s that #noshame tag…) Honestly, we could do to have a few more Asian male leads in books. Michael is everything ~ I fell in love with his personality and character while reading. And I was shipping these two so hard by mid book, I was ready to throw it out the window if we had one more conflict. LOL
This book is something I didn’t even know I was looking for ~ Extremely sweet, scenes of sexy, lots of learning, and very rewarding. I was learning the whole time reading! Who doesn’t love that?! I love learning new things while enjoying a story line. It MAKES a book for me.

Overall I recommend this to anyone that enjoys romance. ANYONE! I don’t care if you prefer paranormal or fantasy romance (cuz so do I), you need to stop what you’re doing and read this one. hahaha
I fully admit I also may be bias as they mention K-drama’s and IP man that I also watch and love. However, this story is so different from everything I’ve read. It would be a shame for you to miss it.
~Happy Reading~!
