Good Day Bookies!!

Gena Showalter has blown me away on this one~~ I was so excited for this book coming out on December 5th and I was not disappointed. <3 Happy Release week Gena!

This is the last book in The Original Heartbreakers series (and new trilogy). I’ve actually reviewed both of the other books in this second part trilogy (Book One~   Book Two) – If you’re new to the series, please check those reviews out BEFORE you read this one!  (Or be a rebel, I’m game either way~ )

Item to Note: This book is ONLY available in ebook format currently! It is planned to be in a paperback next year, but as Gena Showalter self published this book – things are taking a little more time than usual.
It will NOT be available in audio, unless we (the audience) break the bank of purchasing and she can go crazy and do what she wants. 🙂 #goals

“Operation Forever is a go.” Can’t Get Enough, Gena Showalter

So in this book we get Brock Hudson and Lyndie Scott’s story and it is wonderful! Lyndie comes from a background of domestic abuse and violence. Brock’s character comes from a past of war and mental abuse. They are both struggling to move on to better things in life, and this is a story of how they awkwardly (and spectacularly) do just that. 😀  One part alcohol + one part marriage proposal = so much fun.
When reading romance books in a series, there’s a fear that it’ll be a copy and past of trope. (Trope = a common or overused theme or device) However, for each of these three books – each plot was delightfully different and this one…… This one was my favorite of the trilogy. The pacing for the book was upbeat and I couldn’t put it down.

Gena Showalter out did herself on Lyndie and Brock’s characters. Their dialogue MADE this story for me. I am such a sucker for banter and humor <3 this book delivers it. Lyndie is a phenomenal female lead with excellent growth. (There was a scene where I even cheered for her full out – no spoils but it was SO VINDICATING). #girlpower
Brock, while you originally go into this thinking super player/rake, is made to be very harda$$, sweet, with loyalty out the wazoo. Who doesn’t love that in male love interest? (If you don’t, I don’t think we can be friends….)

“On one hand, marriage. On the other, baby. If she had a third hand, sex.” Can’t Get Enough, Gena Showalter

Honestly, I think I’m most impressed by how different I felt about each of these new books. I read the book one with cautious interest and concern about the following books. I should have known better. Gena Showalter has written over 25 books from paranormal to YA to contemporary romance.

  • Overall Rating: 4.5 Stars
  • Plot: 4 Stars
  • Character Development: 4.5 Stars
  • Dialogue: 4.5 Stars
  • Writing: 4 Stars

I would recommend this series to anyone that enjoys romance books. It does start off a little shaky in book one, but after that there is no doubt the writing is excellent and the plots are solid. It’s been a while since I’ve enjoyed contemporary so much and hope you all take a chance on this author if you haven’t before.

Happy Reading!!
~Ash
